Meeku Matrame Chepta Movie Review

‘Meeku Maathrame Cheptha’ deals with a very contemporary theme – viral videos and hacking. It is not a porn video but a phone video, says Tharun when his friend doubts him. In the age of internet and social media, everything is viral, every ‘funny’ video gets huge likes.

Tarun Bhascker is an effortless actor who can play any type of character without much fuss. After putting up a decent show in Falaknuma Das, he carries MMC on his shoulders with his likeable performance and impressive comedy timing. He gets ample support from Abhinav, who is also a natural actor. They are ably aided by the supporting cast played by Anasuya, Vinay Varma and Vani Bhojan.

“Meeku Mathrame Cheptha” begins like a Guy Ritchie movie but it is not about the crime. The basic plot is about a guy trying to save himself from a bad situation that arose due to a viral video. It begins like a buddy comedy with Tharun Bhascker and Abhinav Gomatam occupying the central roles. Their banter and the comedy scenes involving this ‘first-night’ tape are hilarious.

Rakesh (Tharun Bhascker) is an anchor in a TV channel that has low rating points. He has a girlfriend Steffi (Vani Bhojan) who puts him under pressure to disclose all his bad habits or any wrongdoings he had done on the spot, before the exchange of wedding vows. A year ago, he had acted in a film as a hero and he did a first night scene with the heroine. But the film never got finished and this small first-night scene has surfaced on porn sites, putting Rakesh in a series of embarrassing situations.
